Earworm

Following our regular scheduled programming, we have a  digital storyboard an eight frame sequence of my own choosing. I have had an earworm stuck in my head all day. An earworm, in case you don’t know, is sometimes known as a brainworm, sticky music, stuck song syndrome, or Involuntary Musical Imagery (IMI).  These terms are all used to describe a catchy piece of music that continually repeats through a person's mind after it is no longer playing. Today’s earworm is the theme song from The Munster’s.

The Munsters, in case you don’t know, was  an American sitcom based around the home life of a family of benevolent monsters. The show starred Fred Gwynne as Frankenstein's monster-type head-of-the-household Herman Munster; Yvonne De Carlo as his vampire wife, Lily Munster; Al Lewis as Grandpa, the over-the-hill vampire who relishes talking about the "good old days", and Butch Patrick as their half-vampire, half-werewolf son Eddie Munster.  Also, their teenage niece lives with them who is played by Pat Priest.  Priest was played by Marilyn Munster, who is an all-American pageant beauty which makes her the family outcast; The series was a satire of both traditional monster movies and the wholesome family fare of the era and was produced by the creators of Leave It to Beaver.

I decided to digitally storyboard one of my favourite episodes of The Munsters.

The Munsters: Hot Rod Herman  (1965)

Eddie tells his friend Sandy Baylor that his father can beat Mr. Baylor at the Mockingbird Heights drag strip. Instead, Herman ends up losing the Munsters Koach on a bet. Determined to win it back, Grandpa constructs his own roadster, the Drag-u-la, to beat 'Leadfoot' Baylor at his own game and win back the family's beloved Koach.

1.    The title sequence for the TV show
2.    Herman decides he’s going to be a dragster.
3.    Herman’s Koach (vehicle) performs pitifully.
4.    Grampa debuts his own roaster
5.    All the Munsters attend the Mockingbird Heights Drag Strip
6.    The race is on.
7.    Grampa pulls into the lead; he has the race in the bag.
8.    Herman does a victory lap hanging onto Grampa’s roadster.
